This article is about what the beef really is or have at the fast food restaurant, Taco Bell. They state that they use premium beef on the meals that contain the beef. Lots of people tend to ask on the Taco Bell page what they put on the beef. People had said lots of ingredients, listed on this page, that could be on their beef.

I think that this news article about Taco Bell meat could connect with my Health class I had last semester. In that class we talked about many different kinds of foods and all the sugar and protein and carbonates and things like that, that the food has. We talked about fast food places and whats good for our types of bodies. Everyone has different types of bodies so for everyone it was different about what they could eat or not.

My reaction to this article was like "I don't care what kind of beef they have." I like their beef and I don't complain about it at all. I think it stupid that some people are asking stupid questions. Maybe for some people that care what their eating because they have health problems might have reason to complain. Anyways its so simple for them, they just shouldn't eat there and find a place where they like what ever their eating. This article doesn't effect me in worrying about what kind of beef it is, I'll still eat there when I can.

What is the purpose for using [quotations]? The purpose of using quotations is to show that those are types of ingredients that are listed on the Taco Bell page. Before the author starts listing the ingredients and talking about each one, he says, "Oats are on the ingredient list for Taco Bell's beef." Which is telling me that that there is a list and after that they state, "If you're wondering what "trehalose" is, "It’s a naturally occurring sugar that we use to improve the taste of our seasoned beef." And "natural flavoring?" Taco Bell "add[s] a black pepper flavor to enhance the taste." After these three ingredients listed here they talk about what they are and all of that.

Ancient Daddy Long-Legs with Extra Eyes.

The article talks about how scientists found an ancient daddy long-leg called harvestmen. They say that this spider has an extra pair of eyes along the middle part of the body and the ones on the sides. They also mention that this type of spider is more closer related to a scorpion because it has eight legs. They also talk about how this ancient harvestmen has a second pair of eyes. The researchers say that they are embryos and that's why they have extra pair of eyes.

This can relate to the biology class with Mrs. Dixon. In her class we learned how other animals were different from their ancestors because of different genes traits. We talked about embryos and hybrids and how different animals were this type, but being related because of some similar traits.

I feel surprised about this article because I didn't know these types of spiders could be more closely related to a scorpion. From this article I learned more about these types of spiders and it interested me. I would like to find out more about different types of spiders and about their ancestry.

What is the central idea of the passage and how is it developed and refined throughout the selection? The central idea of the passage is to talk about the ancient harvestmen spider. It is developed and refined throughout the selection by describing how the spider looks. For example, they said this, "The ancient harvestmen had a pair of eyes along the middle of the body -- like their modern counterparts -- but they also had a pair of eyes on the side of the body" (Heltzel). The author also developed and refined the selection by talking about where they came from, "Though Harvestmen have eight legs and are categorized as arachnids, they're not spiders. They're more closely related to scorpions" (Heltzel).

Job Reports

This article is about the jobs in March, and talking about how they increased hiring people. They also want to maintain the Fed as it is, not decrease it or increase it. They also said that "payrolls for March totaled 192,000, slightly below 200,000 forecast, and the unemployment rate was 6.7 percent, above the expected 6.6 percent" (March Jobs Report Proves a Just-Right Mix). 

I can connect to this news article by my civics and economics history class I had in my school. Since this article deals with the money and hiring people, I'd put this under economics. They also talk about increasing hiring but to make sure they don't decrease their Fed, which in economic and history we can learn and see that; back then it was similar for all the companies and factories or industries.

My reaction to this was happy and surprised that people now can get jobs there. Also its really fascinating about the payrolls and the unemployment rate. If I were an adult and needed a job I would totally agree in trying to get a job there.

What is the impact of using [quotations]? The impact in using quotations is to show that someone else is saying it. For example, "It only meets expectations. It wasn't like a blow-out number," said Jim Paulsen, chief investment strategist at Wells Capital Management" (March Jobs Report Proves a Just-Right Mix). By these quotations we can tell the difference in the narrator and the person that states something about the subject. Quotations are normally always separated from the text by a comma for example, "This kind of confirms their view that it was more weather than anything else," said John Canally, investment strategist and economist with LPL Financial" (March Jobs Report Proves a Just-Right Mix).

Chocolate in Australia

This article is about how in Melbourne, Australia is very hot. They say that it hasn't been that hot in UK before. They also said that to prove it they had placed a chocolate ball outside and in less than three minutes it melted.

I think that this article can relate to my online health class I had last semester because it has to do with the temperate we get on your body. In health class we learned about what to used during what types of different temperatures we have. Also in my health class I learned that very hot temperature can affect your skin really bad if you don't take care and treat your face the right way.

My reaction to this article was not very surprising because I believe that it has been pretty hot around here during the summer as well. I don't really think it has been hot to the point where you literary feel your dying but it has been pretty hot in the summer. I also think that the whole "Chocolate Melting" thing is a thing we can do here during a hot day and it will melt and not be so as "hot" as they express it. Maybe its just because its never been as hot there and they are so amused.

The author using language to advance his/her point of view by the way she states the situation. They want to inform us about how impressing it is that chocolate melted during a very hot day in UK. They make it so fascinating! For example using an explanation mark/point such as, "in less than three minutes!" and also saying, "It never been that cold in the UK!"

This Article is about a driver either under the influence of drinking or doing drugs. This conductor was driving a pickup truck and, was going 40 miles per hour; he crash into an apartment. This driver almost smashed a couple that were sleeping, this happen during 2:30 in the morning.

This Article has no connection to any of my classes, but I like how under this article it has a little place where it says "Difficult Words:." In this place they put difficult words from the article that someone might not understand and it gives the definition also. I think that, that little part could connect to my English class. In English class there is many hard words I don't understand and having something like this; makes me comprehend better. This can probably relate to our vocabulary words we have each week.

 I felt really surprised when I read the title of this article. I thought that it was going to be about some person having a actual car inside their home to be fancy or something. When I read the passage I was even more surprised. I never thought that a person could crash into an apartment and then almost kill a couple while they were sleeping. I would of been really scared if this would happen to me.

What is the purpose for using bold words in the passage?

The purpose for using bold words in the passage is because the bold words indicate that they are difficult words or saying that we the readers might not understand. The author has four bold words, and one meaning for each. For example in the second sentence towards the end it says, "Covering them in Debris" . At the very bottom of the passage it says "Difficult Word:" and following that they have the definitions or the meaning for each word that is bold in the passage. The definition for "Debris pieces of something that has been destroyed" (Car in the House).

Strong Personalities Skew Study Samples

This article is about animal personalities and traits. They author talks about birds in specific. The author states that there has been new studies on birds groups of more and less aggressive bird males. This article connects to my science class from last semester because it talks about traits. That's like a subtopic under the topic, science. The article goes about the personalities the birds have in certain situations and in science we would talk about animal traits and how they react to whatever was put in their way.

When I read this article I thought to my self that how was it possible that a little bird like, the one in the image, can be aggressive. I wouldn't think that little flying animals like birds would harm anybody or anything. Except for what they eat, because they eat even more little insects and creatures. I thought this article was interesting and also that people are studying bird behavior and whether their very aggressive or little aggressive depending on the situation.

How does the structure of the text refine and support the author’s claim? The author supports his claim by the structure of the text because it is short and simple. Also the author uses an example, he stated that, "It's kind of like when talk show hosts say "95 percent of 13-year old (who responded to our online survey) are smoking pot!!!" -- leaving out the part about it really being 95 percent of the particular 20 teenagers who felt like responding to our survey." He was comparing the bird study to a survey. The author also says that "the idea of animal personality is not one that's been formally studied all that much." He says this because he then goes on with a different paragraph talking about the study that is being made on birds.

About Cher

This article is about a "superstar" (WENN), named Cher. The article states that she released her last album last September. The passage also talks about Cher being on Twitter and seeing mean comments about her. Cher also explains about her album, "Take It Like a Man," because that's what the comments were on. The article also talks about Cher being with the Warner Brothers and how some of them don't have much interest in her CD's no more.

I believe that this article has to have some sort of connection with my college class am having right now. I have Music Appreciation. In that class we usually talk about famous people and there music; people from the past and sometimes from the present. My I was getting kind of ticked off while I was reading the end of the passage. The reason for my reaction was because Cher has been with the Warner Brothers since 1996 and now they don't have interest in her CD's so they stop being with her. To me it was like if your with someone for business or whatever you stay for with and for that person. Questions just came to head about why now stop working with her?

How does the author support his claim? The author supports his claim by quoting in his news article what Cher had to say about the situation. This was Cher's explanation about the comments people left her on Twitter; "The video had nothing 2 do with me. I was told it would only be shown in gay bars. It 's true WB's [Warner Brothers] hasn't got a great deal of interest in my CD" (WENN). Also the author stated that Cher also said, "Not all, there are hard working adorable [people], but decision makers don 't seem 2 care that much. It 's ok YHSTLOM [You haven't seen the last of me]." The author did support his claims with Cher's responses to the comments and her feelings towards the Warner Brothers; WENN explained himself great towards this whole issue.
